What we have been up to (warning: picture overload)

I have been lagging it with blogging, as usual. So lots of pictures, not so many words.

Sal got a teaching job!! YAY! That means I now work from home and take care of my boys! And he still goes to school 3 days a week. It is crazy but next semester should be a little less stressful!

Celebratory dinner with family and friends at Cheesecake Factory, Sal's favorite! This little (or should I say huge) guy turned 6 months. He proudly weighs in at 19lbs 13 oz and 28 inches long. He rolls EVERYWHERE, still says dada and now says mama, only when crying or mad. He only wakes up once a night but it makes Salvador want to come sleep in our room because he doesn't want to be in the room with a crying baby. I got figure out how to keep Salvador in his own room.

We celebrated Halloween. Salvador was my power ranger (his own choosing), Samuel was my monkey, Sal was my big, cuddly bear and well, I was a chola. I couldn't come up with anything else. And if you haven't noticed, I dyed my hair brown (Thanks Megan, I am still loving it!)

Mostly, we have just been hanging out and living life. Salvador and Samuel are really starting to play more. Salvador loves having him around and Samuel just laughs when Salvador is around, even when he is being poked, prodded and pulled!!

4 month stats

Samuel is almost 5 months now, but it is never to late to give the stats.

Weighs in at 17lbs 11 oz (I like them big)

Height: 27 inches
77% percentile for both (which I never understand how they come up with percentages).
Still doesn't sleep through the night (wakes up sometime between 2:30 and 4:30). Then wakes again at 6:30 and if I am lucky, he will go back to sleep.

Wakes up very happy and talks in his bed for at least 10 minutes.

Thinks Salvador is so funny.

Is just starting to roll over but still no desire to roll.

Has the cutest giggle and is EXTREMELY ticklish.

Grows hair at a rapid rate. Has already had 2 haircuts since birth.

Just started eating solid foods (favorite: bananas, least favorite: peas. Do you blame him?)

Loves to suck on his fingers (takes after me. I sucked my thumb until I was... let's just say I was in my teens)!

Says dadada

Eyes are still a bluish green!

I love this kid! He is such a good baby! Even after all I went through, if they were like him and Salvador, I would have 10 more! Okay, maybe only 2!
One of his many trips to Disneyland! I love his dimples!Playing hide and seek with Salvador. This was his hiding spot! Don't worry, they are clean clothes!

Having fun playing with a balloon!

Can't we all just get along?

Okay, so usually I post about my family and use lots of pictures but this post will be a little different. Lately, I have been involved in a lot of political discussions/debates and people have been making crazy accusations and been disrepectful towards those who have other political views. I just want to clear some things up. Please be my friend after this post! I am in no way trying to be disrespectful or argumentative. I just want people to see my side, and trust me, it is most likely different than my 2 readers.

I am a Democratic and a Mormon. There I said it and I am proud of it. Does that mean I am a total left winger? NO! Does that mean I won't like you because you aren't Democrat? NO! But people who find out I am both give me this look like, "How can you be both?" I just am! I would consider myself more moderate, with a more liberal view of life.

I just don't get people who dis our president when he has only been in office for 12 seconds (okay almost 9 months). Seriously, give the guy a break. I actually liked Bush for the first 1 1/2 of his presidency (I hope my dad doesn't disown me). It takes people a while to get used to a job, cut the guy some slack. Let's see if he can turn this country around.

I don't mind debating, not arguing, with people from political parties. It makes me think and research their findings. BUT don't come at me with lies and lame accusations if you don't know what you are talking about. I want to learn why you think that way. Maybe I will learn something. I had a conversation with a Republican about the healthcare system and actually learned a little something. Did I agree with him? No, but I then did my own research and thanks to him, made myself a little smarter.

So what brings this on? A lot of things but the icing on the cake was tonight when people were saying how Obama is like Hitler because he wants to address students about education. REALLY? That is what I am talking about. Lame and stupid name calling. The man wants to wish our kids luck this year in school, stress the importance of furthering their education and maybe even give some advice. What is wrong with that? Because he didn't get parental consent? Please, do you really think teachers get parental consent for everything they teach? NOPE. What is it going to hurt to see a man giving advice to young students about the importance of education. The man graduated from Columbia and Harvard. I would say he knows a little something about education. What better man to encourage our young kids to go to college?
President Hinckley encouraged and spoke out about the importance of furthering education. He even started the perpetual education fund. Could someone please explain why they are against this speech Obama is going to give? I just don't understand and I really would like to understand.

I have always been interested in politics, thanks to my dad. I will admit that when I first started voting, I did what my dad said. But as I got older, I did my own research and really wanted to find things out for myself. All I ask people to do is don't be a follower. Don't just join a party because of your friends, husband, parents, whoever. I married a Republican (although he is more independent and moderate as well) and it works. I learn from him. Before we all jump to conclusions, let's try to understand other's points of view. You never know, you might learn something.

Recent Happenings

It's been a while. I suck at this blogging thing. So I am just going to say what we have been up to with pictures. We have been up to a lot!

Hanging out with SpongeBob at the Nickelodeon Studios
Having fun with family!Celebrating my birthday with a fun date with my hubby!
The Science Center in Los Angeles with cousins. It's free and fun!
The hurricane tunnel at the Science Center. On our way to the High Sierra's for a little camping trip.A little hike down to the lake!Going for a ride on the lake with cousins. As we were leaving, the kids put on a talent show. Salvador sang the Mickey Mouse clubhouse song and Popcorn popping. There were also Hannah Montana singing and dancing acts, scooter tricks and stunt fighting. It was super funny!Hanging out with more cousins and having a blast!!!!!And finally the most important, growing up way too fast! Where did my baby go? He is already 3 1/2 months and is so big. He wears 6-9 months, weighs approximately 17 pounds, giggles and smiles constantly, sucks his fingers, so badly wants to sit up and stand, loves watching his brother and dad play, speaks 14 languages and is potty trained (okay, the last two are a little over the top). I am madly in love with Samuel. I can't handle how cute he is! He still has his beautiful blue eyes and if the light hits just right, they look green. They keep getting lighter. Hopefully, they stay that way!
This is why I haven't been blogging! I probably lost all my readers because of my lack of posting!

The Loss of a friend

On a daily basis, Salvador is sad about something. He didn't get gum, I won't let him have ice cream at 9:00 in the morning, he has to color instead of watch cartoons, many things set off his little attitudes. Today, he had to go to the bathroom. He is very capable of going number one all by himself but for some reason he wanted me in there. I was taking care of Samuel, so I told him to go in by himself and I would be there in a minute. As he is sulking to the bathroom, I hear him tell me, "I'm not your best friend anymore." I had to laugh! I guess I lost my best friend! I need to find a new one!

Crazy hair and Crazy hands

So Samuel was born with a full head of black hair and it has yet to go away. I absolutely LOVE IT! However, I have no clue what to do with it. I try to spike it but then after 10 minutes, half is spiked and half is laying flat. I try to bring out the curls, but they go straight after 10 minutes. I also try to brush it flat, but the back part won't lay flat. So, most days he just has crazy hair.
An attempt at curls.

What it normally looks like. You can't really see the hair that sticks straight up but it is there.

Pony tails. Just in case I never have a girl, at least I can have a kid who can wear pony tails. He has a mullet, which will be getting cut. Notice, it is in a ponytail.

Salvador decided to trace my hands. I think I have the next Picasso on my hands. Now I know I am a little on the chubby side, but I guess I didn't realize how big my hands were.
